Edinburgh Dungeon 2015: The Green Lady
Edinburgh Dungeon has always been one of our favourite UK Dungeon attractions - predominantly because it seems to have more scares than it's sister attractions down South. This may have something to do with Edinburgh's dark and morbid history, and it is to this history that the designers have turned for their new for 2015 show - The Green Lady.
Stories of Green Lady ghosts are quite rife through the region and are passed down through generations, so it is quite apt that the new attraction starts out with a little bit of storytelling. Without giving too much away, the attraction utilises the same sort of scare tactics that work so well in the Jack the Ripper pub scene in London and the witches scene in the Warwick Dungeon. So expect lots of darkness, some unexpected appearances and a nasty surprise at the end!
Like most Dungeon shows, the strength of this scene is in the believability of the actor telling the story and the speed with which he is able to move in the dark. This along with the big final reveal at the end, we had a number of good jumps throughout.
The scares in this scene fit in really well with all the other scares along the way on the full tour, which of course culminates in our final plunge to our deaths on the Drop Dead ride.
As we stated from the beginning, Edinburgh has always been one of the best of the UK Dungeon attractions and the new Green Lady show complements the other attractions perfectly. If you are in Scotland then you must pay her a visit - she is waiting for you!

Last night we were plunged into the dark depths of the Edinburgh Dungeons once again! As we made our way past the familiar Torture Room, escaped the clutches of Sawney Bean's spawn and managed to make it out of the Street of Sorrows alive, we happened upon a dingy looking room in which the occupant informed us was known as Old Craig House.
We thought we'd found safety as we informed this is were the rich in Edinburgh opted to live and until we found out that despite the area being affluent and playing home to many influential residents, the area had many dark secrets and that Old Craig House held one of the darkest! The storyteller went on to tell us the tale of a young lady who had done nothing wrong except fall in love with the wrong man which ultimately resulted in not only her death, but cold blooded murder. The story did not end there, the storyteller told us that her spirit was known to roam the halls of Old Craig House unable to rest until revenge was had! Suddenly the lights went out and any hopes we'd had of escaping without a visit from The Green Lady was dashed! Things began to move, the room began to shake and the if you'd like to know the rest you'll just have to visit!
For a fan of the Dungeons, like myself, the Edinburgh Dungeons just keeps getting better. The costumes are better, the make-up improved and the interactive elements are much more personal. Unlike the London location, the Edinburgh Dungeon doesn't seem rely so much on projections and technology and focuses much more on interaction with the creepy characters lurking within it walls to draw the audience in. The new story has the correct balance of all of the above and was definitely the best scare of the night! There are a few kinks that need ironed but I've no doubt in the coming weeks those will be gone and it'll only get better!
