Review - Leporiphobia 2016 at London Bridge Experience
We have been visiting the London Bridge Experience for years and always look forward to their extreme seasonal events. Over Halloween, we have been forced at gun point to marry a man in a wedding dress, had freaks literally drag us to the ground and seen all sorts of things far too risque to print here! The shows are always fun with a great twist, so we were excited to see what the team had is store for us this Easter. We weren't disappointed!
This seasonal show presented a twisted version of Alice in Wonderland as we proceeded through the rabbit hole into a strange and unforgiving land. As with the Halloween shows, the upstairs portion is all new content and provided a number of really good frights and effects, including a chance to meet the evil Queen of Hearts, who of course, just wanted to chop our heads off.
At this point, some of the group were hooded and led at a pace through the attraction on a chain. This whole section was chaotic, confusing and genuinely scary and it was only afterwards that one of the team mentioned the pretty pink bow on the gimp mask they had put on me!
Once the twisted fun and games upstairs had finished, it was time to head down into the Tombs section. This part of the whole experience remains unchanged for the event except for the fact that most of the creatures terrifying us had rabbit ears. As always with The Tombs, it was a long, walk through impressive sets with the actors working really hard to scare us from every direction. It's a great finale and counterpoint to the first half of the show. With one final chase by a VERY persistent chainsaw man, we found ourselves stood panting and breathless in the gift shop!
If you've only ever tried London Bridge Experience in its normal operating mode, then you really should try one of their Phobia events. It is clear that the team relish in coming up with something new and different and they always find exciting and strange ways to shock us. And for that we are grateful!
