What Frightens The Frighteners?
The incredible Goosebumps Alive is coming to an end and the show must close next week on Sunday 5th June. We visited the show in pre-production and then again on press night and were blown away by the attention to detail throughout and the incredible mix of humour and horror.
Now with just two weeks to go - we sat down to have a chat with some of the cast and crew to ask them "what actually frightens the people who are being paid to frighten us?"
Aaron Millard (Rob): “Being scared of heights, it’s the tree top trail at Centre Parcs… Don’t laugh! There were kids whizzing by me whilst I went foetal!”
Ben Murrell (scarecrow and puppeteer): “I did a bit of stand up once, in front of about 600 people. It’s not quite placing my head into a lion’s mouth or jumping out of a plane, but it’s the scariest thing I’ve ever done by far.”
Ian Keir Attard (Charlie): “Westfield on Christmas Eve.”
Lucy Benson-Brown (Carly Beth): “I once saw what I think was the ghost of an old woman sitting at the dining room table in my old house when I went to the loo at about six in the morning. Then I saw her out the living room window a few weeks later. So creepy…”
Michael Warburton (shopkeeper): “The bravest thing I’ve ever done is deciding to become an actor.”
Macy Nyman (tent girl): “If I ever go in front when me and my family go on horror walk-through mazes, I feel like a hero!”
Ajjaz Awad (actor and puppeteer): “Paragliding in Turkey.”
Alastair Curtain (Danny in Blob): “I decided to try and get over my fear of snakes by holding one at a display. The snake handler just shoved it into my hands and wandered off to make a phone call. I was doing okay… until the snake turned around to look at me.”
Rachel Marwood (Sabrina): “I had a pretty terrifying situation in Hawaii last summer. I was out snorkling and got swept away in a rip curl. A man and his son spotted me from a nearby cliff and jumped in to save me. Luckily the son was a trainee firefighter! They then had to help me scale the rocks back up the cliff!”
Rae Brogan (Jenny): “I once set foot in a Foxtons.”
Tim Phelps (Gareth): “Well they say animals have a sixth sense... I believe it. A few years ago while at home one night, out of nowhere, my dog jumped right off his bed and ran to the other side of the room and just stared at his bed as if someone was stood over it. His bed was just in front of the door, so my mum walked outside the room and started calling him but he would not go to her no matter how hard she tried. He just starred at the space above his bed. When he did finally leave the room, he dragged himself against the wall to stay as far away as possible from his bed.”
