Yorkshire Scare Grounds
Last year’s Sanctuary theme of a Zombie outbreak really put Fear Masters onto the scare map with an event that would get even the most intense scare fan quacking in their boots. This year sees a brand new alien invasion theme but how would Obliteration Earth hold up compared to previous shows?

With no obvious introduction to each maze the storyline was not always evident and it was difficult to distinguish which maze was which, especially towards to beginning of the event. We didn't actually see any ‘cloning’ scenes as such but the scenery was very convincing and you could actually believe we were in an alien inhabited ship. The extremely thick smoke and dim lighting made us explore the maze with extreme trepidation.
Alien Encounter used the mine set used in previous shows although the extra details and theming throughout have cleverly turned it into an underground alien lair. The detail of the scenery was very impressive but unfortunately there just weren't enough actors to sustain the scares throughout the attraction. A shame as this venue has been terrifying in previous years.
Dead Central took us into a wasteland space with small huts and tin fires to explore. We didnt quite understand the tribesman charcaters and how they fitted in with the overall story but we had a number of good jumps
As we explored the Memory Bank we encountered a very bright and colourful laser mash up of scenes. The aliens planned to take away our memories with the use of ‘the chair’. The chair looked rather impressive with retro 80’s neon lights and the actress being subjected to the memory loss chair played it with great realism, the best victim of the evening.
The Hive is where we finally met Empress Dyscord, the Leader of the earth’s Obliteration. We anticipated how terrifying this encounter but unfortunately we were just greeted with a small speech on how we are worthless humans and told to be on our way. Followed by a standard strobe maze ending. For a show building up to this it felt like an anti climax compared to previous years.
So did Obliteration Earth live up to our expectations? Unfortunately, no. We just didn't find the alien theme scary. Fear Masters must be commended for their set design and the general look of all their attractions, however we feel when we visited that they just didn’t have the volume of strong actors from previous years to bring these mazes to life.

Not scary at all - didn't find it at all scary and very confusing, a big let down on last years
amazing show after talking to a few cast members came to realise it was due to a
lead member of management leaving and a lot of last years actors.. i fear Fearmasters have gone as far as they can unless they get back to doing what they
did best SCARING PEOPLE!!
Scary
I have to disagree with the Scaretours comment about being no-one to explain the maze as there was a dispatcher at the beginning of each with the exception of the last one (the Hive?)
I found the actors to be giving a mix of scares and humour which led to an all round good night.
