Haunted Maize Maze at Valley View - Review
With travel guidance in place due to Covid, guest reviewer Amy Young went along to visit this Halloween event at Valley View at Gouldings. It would seem that despite the local restrictions, Halloween is NOT cancelled thanks to the amazing team at Valley View Goulding's!
I attended this haunted attraction with my partner both being horror lovers we were really looking forward to this event and what it would bring, to start off we were welcomed by a lovely lady who was able to check us in to our given time slot this process was very fast and efficient! Very professional and very helpful. Group size were perfect, following government guidelines rules and social distancing and hand sanitising was mentioned from the very beginning of the experience.
We were guided into a large tented area with loads of hay bales to sit on we were told to take a sit and to ‘have fun’ Our group was silent as nobody really knew what was in store then BANG!! First jump scare of the night by the host himself Damien the Devil! This part of the experience was incredibly well done, as he engaged with everyone in the group and had everyone screaming and laughing in a good ratio of fear and comedy. Again social distancing was mentioned multiple times throughout this part of the experience also about wearing your masks as well. We were then sentenced to hell and told to go on the ‘trail of terror’
Moving on to the maze itself which was made of dark and eerie pathways among the forest which was only lit by faint torches and a few fires in the faint distance, I must say it was a bit dark and gloomy along these paths which made it hard to see and I felt myself looking at where I was walking because of muck being slippy etc rather than taking in the full horror experience. Wellies is a must for this event!
Each area with its set and props were effective and were used very well. There were 5 main characters that all have their own scripted piece throughout the haunted walk through they were amazing and stayed in character the full time, however I feel their could have been more actors in these areas for added jump scares.
Now onto the end of the attraction we were are split into our ‘covid bubbles' to take on the haunted hay maze, there is just something about walking through a corn maze that's very creepy! There was a number of good jump scares through here but maybe needed a couple more actors as it is a large area that needs to be covered.
Overall though this event is a Halloween must and was great for the whole family. Well done Valley View! We hope to see you next year.
