Truth Seekers by The Escape Game
To celebrate the new Simon Pegg and Nick Frost supernatural comedy, Amazon Prime have teamed up with US escape room company, The Escape Game, to present Truth Seekers.
Played via Zoom, the experience uses a live avatar in the room itself, as well as an inventory screen that includes clips from characters in the show, as well as a list of all the items discovered to date, or locks waiting to be solved. The whole execution is flawless, as the Avatar has a chest mounted camera, and is able to react directly to our questions, while being able to open and investigate things as required.
Playing a physical game online can impact some escape rooms, but the live avatar was very engaging throughout, and made us feel totally involved with the game - even when the spooky voodoo doll kept moving around the site!
The puzzles themselves were great fun, and ranged from physical activities such as placing objects in certain places, alongside more thought provoking puzzles where we needed to identify a code or a word to progress. In terms of difficulty - this was more of a fun room than an overly difficult one. As you can see from our completed time - we escaped the room in 37 minutes without the need for any clues. This is probably due to the game being a promotional marketing campaign, so would need to appeal to people who may not have done an escape room before but were tempted in by the tv show.
All in, we were really impressed with the experience and the friendly staff throughout, and as the UK heads back into lockdown, we are definitely going to try more games from this team!
