This is Reality 2000 - by Objective Entertainment
With live theatre and Immersive indoor experiences still on hold due to the Covid lockdown, Objective Entertainment have created a year 2000 time capsule that lets players participate in a virtual Big Brother experience.
Once registered onto the game, players are asked to chose a particular character, and are given a background pack to enable them to get into the mood, including some key personality traits and costume suggestions. The characters themselves range from boorish comedians, wannabe pop stars and new age gurus!
Play then continues, in the style of the big Brother TV show with a number of "days" to play out and each character being given some secret tasks and missions. Along the way there are surprise nominations, some interesting conflicts and even a shocking eviction! Between "days" in the game, we were treated to year 2000 synopses, including news headlines, period music and a selection of TV adverts from year.
By the end of our "9 days" (effectively one hour's gameplay!) many players had undergone abrupt lifestyle choices, and we all got to campaign for why we should be the winner of "This is Reality 2000". After a final vote , our winner was crowned and as our Housemaster left us, we were allowed to stay in the house and chat about our experience.
Everyone agreed that the game was something completely unique and fun, and we all enjoyed the role play throughout. In this time where it is still difficult to meet up with friends (without sitting outside in a cold pub garden) it was nice for the 6 of us to chill over a few drinks and have a laugh at each others expense!
As well as the one hour version - there is also a 2 hour game for up to 12 players, which may have become a bit chaotic as tensions rose! But this would really make a great work team building event or just a great game to play with friends.
Completely different to the sort of experiences we usually do (although we did manage to sneak a scare into one of the days!) - we had a great time playing This is Reality 20002. Clearly a lot of thought and effort has gone into the show, and the use of technology created a seamless and engaging experience.
