Fright Post Farm
Returning to Fright Post Farm for our second year we was met by a familiar face... the yard zombie. This guy is fantastic and gives everyone a good scare roaming the yard and is a great introduction to the whole event.
We headed straight for The Toy Box first, which is a new name for a revamped maze from last year. This new version had uneven floors throughout and lots more scares than last year. In one part we had to walk in the dark and almost stumbled as the floor was bouncy after a while we realised we was actually walking on a mattress! There were certainly plenty of jumps as clowns attacked from all directions including a big finale being shot by an unexpected clown with an air pistol.
The Ghost Ship was our next maze, which was new for this year. We were really impressed with all the props and sets used for it but it wasn't the scariest of mazes. At the end, we were given the choice of two different endings. Obviously we chose the "extended" one which was a really tight maze in pitch black that we had to feel our way around to find the way out. With lots of horrible dangling things to walk through and the darkness surrounding us, it was seriously creepy and we we really enjoyed this new maze.
Our last stop was the tractor trailer ride - a very bumpy ride across nearby land which provided a number of screams along the way. Some of the ride is quite similar to previously last year but there have been a few changes to the ride. We were disappointed to see that the exploding tank has been removed but the strobe lighting section on uneven flooring was particularly impressive (we have never been through a strobe lighting maze on a tractor before!) The ride ended with us being chased after by a crazed rabbit holding a chainsaw and then just as we thought it was all over we got "shot" by the mad farmer of the land!
Outside of the three main attractions. the fire poi dancers were roaming the farm, which added a nice touch to things.
Overall, we were really impressed by Fright Post Farm's Extreme Evening. It's not the scariest of attractions but is definitely a whole family event and well worth the money. The changes they have made in just a year are impressive and bode well for future development.
