Unit 260 - Excavation
Unit 260 Excavation was a new pop up scare experience based in the intu shopping centre in Thurrock. Created by new production comany Bad Omens, the event had a few familiar names from the scare attraction industry behind it, so we were looking forward to seeing what they could do with an old Burger King unit.
First off - the unit still has many of its original features which meant that a fully immersive and realistic atmosphere was created from the start. The team were able to utilise whole kitchens full of shiny metallic units and such and dirty and bloody them up as much as they wanted to. These opening scenes were tense and for a moment we genuinely felt like we were being stalked like the children in the kitchen scene in Jurassic Park. If Bad Omens had thrown in a man in a Raptor suit, we wouldn't have been surprised!
What then followed was a pretty standard linear route through the remains of the unit, all while being stalked by numerous creatures that had been unleashed. What we liked was that as well as tight corridors and crawl spaces, there were also moments set in open areas and we really got the feeling of being stalked through these parts.
The actors threw themselves into their roles and for a quiet Sunday afternoon, seemed to be pretty numerous. Either that or they were just being very active and going for as many scares as they could! Either way, they managed to get us many times!
All in - we thoroughly enjoyed Unit 260, and we hear that it may pop up in new locations very soon. If it comes near you then you should definitely pop down and see what can be excavated!
