The Scare Zone Northallerton
Every Halloween, on the outskirts of Northallerton, a garden nursery turns itself over to a Halloween, with a family friendly festival in the daytime and then a darker event come night-time.
For The Scare Zone, run by UFO Leisure, they have turned 2 huge polly tunnels into a fun filled attraction. In the day it's a "no actor" walk through with a guide explaining a story with some real bad puns. But when it gets dark the laughter is turned to screams.
The former Home Haunters have used every fail safe budget attraction trick to put together a well thought out attraction, Guests follow a route through many different scenes including clowns, a prison strobe maze and a butchers scene to mention a few. They use the area to its fullest to bring a fairly long attraction. The actors were all energetic and really in our faces and the strobe maze was extremely effective with both a confusing path and what seemed like loads of actors
This attraction also gave us a first, with a chainsaw run in the middle of the maze, while weu moved between tunnels> This was a great distraction as we hardly realised we were back outside for a minute before entering the second part of the show.
Overall we really enjoyed both our day and night runs and surprisingly going through in the daylight took nothing away from the night event. We look forward to visiting again next year an seeing what changes they make.
