Scream: One Way Out at Madame Tussauds
Scream: One Way Out often gets overlooked when talking about the permanent scare attractions of London. This is probably because it is just a single part of a whole bigger attraction and is not accessible on its own. Which is a shame – as it is actually VERY good.
It feels very different to many scare attractions in that, due to the sheer number of visitors to Tussauds, the group sizes are much bigger than standard. This means the acting talent have to work much harder to get their scares. And work hard they do – it would be very easy for them to jump out, scare, then reset, as they do in many of the large capacity US theme park mazes. With large groups this would mean that unless you are the victim you may just see a scare up ahead but not actually experience it yourself. The Scream crew though, make a point of finding and using different areas and angles to attack from and the cut-throughs and hidey holes allow one actor to effectively scare many people in the group.
The set has had a number of changes through the years and makes the most of the small area it has. I felt that since my last visit a bit more detail and theming had been added to the middle section, which always used to just be black corridors.
One of the key things that always strikes me about Scream is the diverse mix of people that go through. I genuinely believe that many of the tourists in the line have no idea what they are going to experience and as such it’s not unusual for groups to be filled with “screamers”. Fortunately, the inmates just pick on these people even more and the screams echo out into the queue line, building anticipation for the next group. It’s actually nice to see that Tussauds don’t try and dampen the intensity to cater for the different audience.
So if you haven’t visited Scream before, should you go now? It is good but short and as such not worth the full Madame Tussauds entrance price at £28 alone. But if you want to enjoy the whole MT experience, including the fun Spirit of London ride and the incredible new 4D Marvel Superheroes film and have a great little scare while you are there – then I would suggest you go now!

Fantastic free extra to the Wax exhibition! if it lasted longer i would pay the same just for Scream thanks to the electric energy created by the serial killers! It made the day exciting and has given me a reason to go back! The squadron of actors were sharp, buzzing with energy and not afraid to get close.
