A Nightmare on 99 John Street
Yorkshire Scare O’ Drome have set up a temporary scare attraction at 99 Jump which, by day, is an indoor trampoline park, by night however, it becomes “Nightmare on 99 John Street!” Naturally we were curious to see what was in store so we headed over to Sheffield to find out.
We weren’t sure exactly what Nightmare was about as there had only been one or two marketing images so, when we had to sign a waiver before we could go in, it did make us wonder what lay behind the door.
We entered into a maze of netting and sheeting with a 1940’s style soundtrack playing, hampered by a siren sounding as if nuclear war or a biohazard was about to break out. A couple of characters lunged at us and followed us around the maze as we tried to find our way through it. Some parts seemed quite sparse of activity but this could also have been deliberate. One of us was busy thinking they were in one of the Fallout games thanks to the soundtrack!
From there you we went upstairs to a mass of corridors and the thing that immediately struck us was that it was deadly quiet. We really couldn't hear a thing from downstairs, there was nothing but stillness and darkness. That was until the first zombie lunged forward and attacked us face to face! Following the maze of corridors and doors, decorated in old sheeting and netting, the zombies kept coming and never left us alone. Their makeup was great, they knew how to use dark spots to their advantage and they weren’t afraid to invade your personal space.
One of the scenes involved a room with zombie children in it and, being played by actual children, it felt creepy. Another good scene involved walking down a dimly lit corridor where a character sat in a rocking chair at the end of it, gently swaying backwards and forwards, watching and waiting. We wont ruin the surprise!
The experience lasted about 15 minutes and the finale involves a short gauntlet run down a dark corridor, armed with a Nerf handgun to take out the last of the zombies. It was a great interactive and high energy end to the attraction.
We enjoyed our visit; we laughed and jumped a few times and it was good to talk to the man behind Yorkshire Scare O’ Drome. We also spoke to Archie, from the trampoline park itself, who told us about new ventures coming up such as Airsoft battles and escape games. It will be interesting to see these new developments between Yorkshire Scare O’ Drome and 99 Jump.
Nightmare on 99 John Street runs on select nights until the end of April.

Scary - Good attraction and scary walking down the corridors unsure of what you may find. The characters were quite scary especially when you think you have passed them then they start to follow you. Overall a good attraction and definitely worth a visit. The only negative I really have is the price. £10.00 each seems a bit much and there's no offers for groups or reduced prices for children. Could be to expensive for a family to attend.
Terrifying- Absolutely terrifyingly scary!
There’s no way I could do it alone... once wasn’t enough though so would love to go do it again. Well worth the money paid & a great effort made by all staff & employees.
Well done to all 👏🏻
