Moonlight Zombies
Moonlight Zombies is a new charity zombie experience based at Cuerdon Valley Park in Preston Lancashire. The event was effectively a small tester for future attractions and sold out really quickly, raising over £3,000 for charity.
The walk was set in real woodland and all guests were requested to bring a torch in case they were separated from their group. In a clever twist, turning the usual zombie event on its head, all participants were "infected" from the start and were told that they had an hour to find the antidote or face becoming full blown zombies.
What then followed was a 40 minute walk around woods infested with different zombie types. Various tactics were used, with groups of zombies working together in order to get the most effective scares. Along the way were two 'check points' with the first of them requiring all players to be screened individually. This meant entering the scene alone, which was a great chance for the organisers to scare people individually!
At the second check point, the stakes were raised as a new type of zombie was introduced and the final part of the attraction involved a number of scares through the woods trying to get away from these new "level 3 zombies". The zombies attacked all the way to the final check point (where the antidote was administered) but of course like any good horror movie, the fear wasn't over, and one final scene left everyone running!
Moonlight Zombies was the first attraction created by new production company TerrorFest (although the main organiser is a Halloween veteran having managed Spooky World in the past) and was a tremendous success that managed to add a new dimension to the well worn zombie genre. We know that plans are already being drawn up for next year's event!
