Legends: A Haunting in Old Town
Legends A Haunting at Old Town replaced The Haunted Grimm House, located along Highway 192, less than 10 miles from Walt Disney World. It opened in Summer of last year and became Orlando’s only all year round scare attraction. We visited for their Halloween event where they vamped up the attraction with more scare actors throughout the experience.
The attraction is set in Ashdown and Son’s Undertakers, who have been in business since 1889, providing funeral services to the people of Old Town. Unfortunately healthy townsfolk means unhealthy business for the undertakers, so Ashdown and Son’s decide to take the matter into their own hands by providing a solution by laying the townsfolk to rest, dead or alive!
Upon entering the maze we are invited into the reception room where a large painting of Ashdown rests on the wall. An employee of the funeral parlour tells us how the building is haunted however he has never seen any ghosts, however as soon as he leaves the room the painting comes to life and we are greeted by Ashdown himself. There is great attention to detail throughout the attraction, from the décor in the rooms to the coffins that were lay waiting for their next victim.
The attraction is spread across two floors and uses a mixture of live actors as well as state of the art effects. Although we wished the attraction would have lasted a little longer, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit as there was never a dull moment throughout the maze. Small groups of up to 6 people were allowed through with around 5 minute’s gap in between each group entering, this gave the group time to take in the surroundings and truly explore the attraction at their own pace.
The Halloween event included several scare zones in which scare actors would scare guests passing by, as well as a ghoulish violinist playing haunting songs which all added to the atmosphere of the event. With the Fun Spot fairground nearby the area was buzzing with guests and there was plenty to do in the area of Old Town, making this a fun filled night out.
