Review - Lady Chastity's Reserve - London
It's always hard to review Room Escape adventures, as part of the fun of them is the fact that you enter with no knowledge of what lies within. The same can be said about Lady Chastity's Reserve. The website teases of a mysterious hedonistic socialite and her famed aphrodisiac wine. As we entered the main room, her guardian Gabriel explained the back story and the rules, before leaving us to our own devices.
Like most room escapes, the clues need to be solved in a set order and the first few minutes were spent just looking around the room trying to get an idea of what we had to play with. The room(s) itself was beautifully themed and hides a number of secrets that we couldn't possibly spoil here. Once the puzzle solving began, our brains and common sense were really tested, but within a few moves we had opened the main wine cabinet to a gruesome discovery, and our first glimpse of our sought after treasure. It then became clear that we had a lot more work to do.
Again, without trying to spoil anything - the wine cabinet itself is a masterpiece of design and trickery, with each clue solve eliciting a whoop of joy as the our wine moved closer to our reach! Whilst we were trying to solve clues, Gabriel was constantly on watch, providing a few helpful hints along the way. If really stuck we could call on him for a clue, and we must admit we needed to call him a couple of times.
Gabriel was also the time keeper and kept reminding us how little time we had left. In fact, our last combination was being entered whilst he was counting the final 10 seconds of the game. With less than 5 seconds to go,the prize was ours and we had the wine bottle in our hands!
When we first heard about Lady Chastity's Reserve we were unsure that it would be something for us a scare attraction review site. As it is - there are certainly some jump moments but the whole atmosphere is very dark and spooky and should appeal to anyone who wants a challenging adventure in a creepy environment. It's certainly one of the most original puzzle rooms we have experienced and was a fun and exciting experience from beginning to end.
Lady Chastity's Reserve was created by Handmade Mysteries and is currently running at a number of locations around London and in Brighton.
