Review - Krueger Hotel
Tibidabo is famed for its incredible views over nearby Barcelona, and is home to the impressive Sagrat Cor church, which sits alongside the thrills of Tibidabo Amusement Park. The whole area is extremely popular for visitors, including some unique attractions that take advantage of the views and the park's location. But our main reason for visiting was to check into Krueger Hotel, which can be found nestled in the darkness of one of the multiple levels in the park.
The attraction was first opened over 20 years ago by the same team behind Terror on Church St in Orlando and Pasaje del Terror at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The original Pasaje opened in Argentina, and the brand quickly spread around the world with a number of similar scenes based on classic horror movies.
Although Hotel Krueger soon came under direct management from Tibidabo, it is clear that the attraction has retained a lot of the key scenes and ideas from the Pasaje brand, so feels very familiar, whilst striking out with an identity of its own.
So this meant that as well as finding the classic characters such as Leatherface with his chainsaw, and Regan from the Exorcist on her bed, there are other more unique characters such as Gary Oldman's Dracula from the 90s movie, a diminutive Chucky from Child's Play, and an impressive opening scene in a large hotel lobby with a hotel bell boy and receptionist.
All the rooms and sets throughout were superbly detailed and created a dark and foreboding atmosphere that provided the perfect playground for the actors to play in. As such, we were attacked on multiple occasions throughout our visit -sometimes with surprise sudden scares and sometimes with more elaborate character based performances. Regardless of the scare tactic - the actors were all totally believable with detailed costumes and make up.
We had a great time on our visit to Hotel Krueger and had a number of great scares across the whole experience. For an attraction that's over 20 years old - it still packs an impressive punch and definitely shouldn't be missed when visiting the area.
