Hex in the Harvest
Due to open in the summer, Hex in The Harvest finally opened for a few nights in the summer. Was it worth the wait?

Hex in The Harvest review – Peter Smythe
I was looking forward to visiting Hex in the Harvest, AtmosFEAR’s latest attraction, during the summer but due to “weather conditions” it got cancelled. Personally every tine I passed Hawkshaw Farm the field appeared to be growing adequately so I was surprised that the large 6-week summer event was condensed into just 4 nights at Halloween.Anyway we paid our money (only to discover after that your site was offering a badly needed discount!) and turned up for our visit into the unknown.
Having experienced a number of scary outdoor attractions I was intrigued by Hex in the Harvest’s claim to be UK’s first outdoor Halloween scare show. This was either very good marketing speak or an indication that I was about to experience something really incredible. I soon found out that it was indeed, just clever marketing!
AtmosFEAR produced a fun and scary show last Halloween at Bygone Times which I loved despite the fact it was just a haunted tour of a large antiques warehouse. Therefore I was expecting so much more from Hex, which I really didn’t get.
I lead our group through the field, which probably turned out to be a mistake. I certainly jumped a number of times but didn’t feel any real threat and the people behind me kept saying, “what are you jumping at?” The responses from the back of our group were slightly disappointed that they didn’t feel involved in the actions so much.
Despite it’s advertised 40 minute running time we seemed to spend a lot of time just wandering without a lot happening. When we saw actors they were very professional and were convincing, but all in all we felt that the whole attraction just needed a little bit more. More actors. More effects or perhaps even LESS back-story. After all – we came to be scared and at £10.50 per person feel we only got entertainment for about half that value!
