Review - Hell in a Cell - Bristol
This is going to be the shortest review we have ever written. It has to be, as we really do not want to ruin any of the surprises in this brand new room escape adventure in Bristol.
Set in an abandoned underground Victorian prison, we were bagged, cuffed and locked in our cells with just our wits, a creepy cellmate, and some very twisted clued to try to work out.
Unlike many room escape experiences, the action moved through different connected rooms and the more we explored, the more we discovered a potential escape route. At one point the whole experience turned into something more akin to a full on scare attraction as we explored some of the darkest and most frightening tunnels we have ever experienced.
Throughout the show, we had some genuinely terrifying jump scares and some real moments of tension as we struggled to get out of certain locations. The puzzles were pretty difficult but we actually managed to escape with a few minutes to spare - our final ext from the attraction being a chaotic run for safety with somthing very angry behind us!.
We have experienced a lot of room escape adventures in the past but Hell in a Cell is categorically the scariest one we have ever done. The location and the sets are just so authentic and are genuinely creepy. Add in the puzzles and games, the scare elements, and actors etcc, then it all adds up to one of the most exhilarating, terrifying things we have ever experienced!
Fortunately - the event is not just seasonal and will be here long after Halloween has gone. If you want to do something unique, scary and fun then you need to get down to Bristol before anyone spoils the surprises...

Scary - Went to this for a mates birthday and it was great fun. Really loved the atmosphere and set up. The venue really added to the experience. Loved the susense and puzzles great fun and made it out. No thanks to my mates haha

Really enjoyed hell in a cell. Booked for my friends birthday and we surprised her. Although she was scared at first she totally loved it and had the best time, it made hers and our day. LOVED precious and the scary ending. Thanks so much for making something like this in Bristol

Terrifying but oh so amazing. Hate the dark, hate being on my own and hate being terrified. Best theme park experience I have ever been to so make sure if you read this you don't miss out. Oh staff are so kind too

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would suggest to anyone who is in doubt to put their money where their mouth is, providing their mouth isn't dragging on the floor in shock like mine was

Hell in a Cell was dark, creepy, scary and a complete attack on the senses. It was well run with help given to us when we needed it. We escaped with 3 minutes to spare but I would love to go back and try again.

Before we got there I was skeptical, ho-hum just another bore-fest I thought. Wow was I surprised, incredibly scary folk who made my group scream, great puzzles that pulled us together and a terifying plot throughout. If I could give marks out of ten, 10/10.

Hands down the best escape room we have done. We travelled from London as we'd heard great things about Hell in a cell and we were certainly not disappointed. Clever, intriguing puzzles and the best set we have ever come across. As escape room junkies we set our standards high and this was well worth the trip. Only one issue - we forgot to go toilet before going in aaaaaaaaaargh!!!!

Had the best time here with the girls for my Hen Party. We were terrified before going in and most of throughout but it was amazing. We haven't stopped talking about it since. Really made our time in Bristol memorable and would love to be able to do it all again. Pig Face we love you xxx

Booked this for my best friends stag party, wasn't dissapointed, the staff were friendly, we asked for special treatment so the first thing they did was hood and handcuff our stag James and lead him in first to sit and wait for us, in the pitch black, the atmosphere, you could hear and see glimmers of a creature in the dark, we were lead into the cells, and had to rescue him and escape, it was an amazing one off experience, and would recommend for anyone to try it with their friends,x

This is without doubt the best I've ever been to. Petrifying with the sound effects. And really original with the building and it's history. Last person in the UK to be given the death sentence I heard was in this court. I can believe it.

I have been to a number of these events and this certainly ranks as the most original setting, really scary place, brilliant puzzles...totally immersive experience with believable acting and a proper scary villain! I liked it so much I went again with some friends and the experience was sufficiently different to provide new scares and challenges. 5 stars!!

Hell in a cell is a genuinely terrifying experience that is like nothing else I have ever done. It is a very intense situation that left me and my friends talking about it for days after... I would fully recommend hell in a cell - Bristol and will be returning myself with other friends and colleagues in the firer.

It was absolutely brilliant, I was very scared but it was also alot of fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Went on Friday 7th October. Went there on a stag do. Totally awesome. Got to be one of the best nights out I've had. Pitch black you can't see no further than two feet in front of you. We managed to get out in the allocated time using the clues. but it never ended there!! Those with a nervous disposition had better take a change of underwear. I really do recommend this place

Tonight I experienced the 'hell' experience and unfortunately came away disappointed.
I had read the reviews beforehand and was looking forward to being scared outta my skin.
During the whole experience it felt there was no sense of fear in the building and the only adrenaline rush came from trying to solve the clues and escape before our time up. There was only two actors, and the second only appeared at the end during our time and to be honest I was expecting more actors around to scare us.
On the plus side the venue is great and well found adding to the realism and also great touch with being handcuffed and hooded at the start.
I felt it needed more gore and unexpected scares and feel that tonight we had been short changed. Talking to friends afterwards who had done it beforehand described a different frightening experience to ours and I can't help but think that our experience was done with minimal effort and actors.
At the end after exiting we were told we had done it in 35 minutes and that was the fastest time since the Hell in a Cell has been running so either we were really good (majority of our team have done puzzle experiences before) or it was somewhat rushed as they wanted to get home for the night.
I just don't understand everybody leaving a 5 star rating and honestly don't see how 'Hell in a Cell' won best horror scare experience award 2016.
