Fright Site
Fright Site is a brand new Halloween event based at the Brent Cross shopping centre in London. By day there are a number of family activities including shows, face painting etc but at night time the event takes a more sinister turn.
The Dead Centre of Town is a scare experience that invites guests to tour an old abandoned circus tent now overrun with zombies and undead clowns. After an elaborate introduction by a carnival barker we headed down into the darkness to see this new maze for ourselves.
What then followed was a tense, dark, and very smoky maze which contained a number of actors, some impressive scare effects and a thumping soundtrack. As we tried to navigate the twisting path, the creatures in the maze were able to attack us from multiple directions including through the gaps in the pallet style walls. The creatures were a mix of dead or dying carnival workers alongside a few generic looking zombies and one of the most original scares involved an evil looking clown Just sitting in a small comedy clown car!
Unfortunately, due to the massive storm that ravaged the area the day before it opened, one of the key tent structures had to be completely rebuilt taking up precious time needed to put the finishing touches to the maze. The organisers have promised that these extra scenes will be completed and should now be in place already. From their description, these elements will make the event that much better and provide a proper finale.
As a first maze from this team, the Dead Centre of the Town is a solid attraction with an impressive build especially considering this is a 5 day event in car park. The team have to be commended for not relying on security fencing for walls and actually using scaffold and old pallets to make a grungy themed set that suited the run down nautre of the attraction.
With the additions that should now have been added, The Dead centre of Town will be a fun and scary event that deserves to be a success. In fact, the event has already been extended.
