Fright Post Farm - Extreme Evenings
White Post Farm have been holding family Halloween events for several years, but for 2013 they introduced two "extreme evenings" for older guests. We weren't really sure what to expect but when a zombie "attacked" us as soon as entered the park, we knew that we were going to enjoy it!
HMP LooseLock - This maze was themed as a prison and once inside we were surrounded by cells full of some very deadly looking inmates. Of course it didn't take long for them to get annoyed buy our presence, and as we hurriedly tried to get away, we found ourselves in a tight and very dark maze section. All around us we could hear bangs and screams and the combination of the noise, not knowing which way to go, or what was around the corner, made this a very scary experience.
Top Hat Maze - Upon entering this maze, it first reminded us of Carnival of Screams from Alton Towers with clowns bobbing about & carnival music. Once inside we were free to walk around and intriguingly we soon discovered that this was an actual maze. At times we had to try and work out how to get to the next part as all of the walls were the same with no obvious openings. Although not overly populated, the scares in here were really impressive and we jumped more in this maze than any of the others.
The Tractor & Terror ride - While waiting in the queue for our turn we could hear the screams of everyone else coming back off of their tour. It certainly intrigued us as to what they had just experienced, and built up the tension as we prepared to board Once we set off, it was a very bumpy ride going through all of the fields, and along the way there were a number of unexpected shocks. We were impressed with the amount of thought that gone into this ride and some of the effects were outstanding for such a small venue. One of our highlights was when a massive tank exploded & set fire in front of our eyes and then of course that final scare that left us all screaming as our trailer pulled to a halt to pick up the next group! A great trailer ride and definitely the best attraction at the event this year.
After enjoying the three main attractions we stood and watched the poi show ( fire dancing) with a nice warming cup of hot chocolate!
Looking at the event as a whole, we would definitely say that Fright Post Farm represents good value for money as the mazes can be done as many times as you want. It's quite a fun event which has some great shocks throughout. The tractor ride is the biggest attraction and had a lot of thought going into it with some really fun effects. For a first year of scares for the "mature" audience, the park clearly has a winning formula on their hands and we look forward to seeing what they top this with next year.
