Crazy Mary - Rhodes Haunted House
On hearing that Rhodes had its own scare attraction we just knew we needed to try it while on holiday! Looking at the outside - it looks your typical haunted house, with monsters and bones etc. There are three options to choose from 1-easy, family friendly, 2-medium and 3-extreme.
Obviously we went straight for the extreme. We expected a fun event that was a nice added extra for us horror fanatics whist on holiday. What we got absolutely blew us away - we really weren't expecting the intensity of the event!
After a quick briefing and given a safe word in case it got too much, we were sent on our way. The first thing that struck us was that it was dark. Extremely dark. With uneven flooring and tunnels to crawl through we had no idea where we were going, which kept us on edge. And then out of nowhere the actors would appear - touching, grabbing, pulling! Sometimes with a flash of light, there would suddenly be an actor in front of us, wielding a chainsaw or knives. We soon entered a caged strobe effect with an amazing actor and spark effects. This really threw us as we thought we had come to the end of the maze, or gone wrong as this felt like a big finale. Instead it was just a set piece along the way and was genuinely exciting.
We were plunged back into the darkness, left to feel through all of the walls and find our way out past all the actors. It was genuinely amazing and we were on edge through the entire maze - we jumped so many times it was ridiculous. If we could only use one word to review this maze we would choose "WOW"
