Caine, Who Am I?
At the back end of last year we experienced The Barn by Primrose Unknown Projects. The level of detail and thought processes behind the event were incredibly impressive and we left wanting more. So we were incredibly excited to return up north to visit PUP's latest attraction mysteriously titled Caine, Who Am I?
The attraction is housed inside the National Emergency Services Museum, in the heart of Sheffield. We visited on the final night of the run and upon entering we quickly felt that the atmosphere was electric. The museum differs from most locations we get to visit, as this one boasts a high level of natural paranormal activity. Set inside a building which used to house both a police and fire station you can imagine the rich heritage that the location draws from. In fact, just a few nights prior, the attraction was closed due to some really disturbing occurrences, so naturally we were on edge to find out if we would encounter anything sinister too.
Primrose Unknown really know how to design a great attraction, which fundamentally plays out like a well executed horror film. Tension builds slowly with some great impact scares thrown in for good measure. It's worth noting that with the amount of scare attractions we visit, we do sometimes tend to find ourselves second guessing where the next scare will be coming from, but thanks to some really well hidden actors and clever design it was nigh on impossible and left us feeling incredibly vulnerable at all times.
All of the actors worked hard to tell their own individual stories and although quite script lead at times it didn't feel too much. Performers weren't afraid to deviate from the script where necessary and improvise if needed, and at all times were committed 100% to their roles working the space well. The level of interaction between guest and actor was really refreshing and it felt like we were being given free reign to explore at our own pace and interplay rather than having a linear path and script set out for us. At no point did it feel like there was a time limit and that we were being rushed through in order to get to the next group and for this we really commend the team.
Caine, Who Am I? challenged us to delve into the stories of one of the building's most notorious ghosts which ultimately left us face to face with the evil spirit for a really uncomfortable finale. From the use of a Ouija board early on in the attraction we were taken out of our comfort zone completely and being locked in a cell towards the end with Caine we were left clawing at the door to get out.
Before leaving, we were also treated to a tour of some of the other areas of the building where paranormal activity had been reported most often. Even with the lights turned on we felt uneasy and nervous. It's easy to see how the event could be expanded further and we hope to return at some point to see where the team go from here.

Caine? Who am I? is a new live action scare maze from Primrose Unknown Projects in association with Seeking Spirits Events. Held at the National Emergency Services Museum this new theatrical event tells the story of one of the venues most notorious ghosts, the mysterious Caine.
The attraction is based on true events some years ago in the museum when, during restoration work on some unseen/untouched rooms there were some strange happenings which were believed to be the work of something paranormal.
The maze definitely has that uneasy feel and it was hard not to imagine that something else was present throughout the attraction. Certainly, it was scary and lots of fun and there were some incredible jump scares from the very moment we entered.
Interestingly, each run was very different and the actors were incredibly creative when it came to interacting with us. At least we hope they were actors! We were warned there could be live spirits and we understand that sometimes the show goes a little “off script” if the real ghosts decide to play along!
For £5 per person per run it is extremely good value for money and recommended for people who love a good scare maze but also those interested in the paranormal as the attraction is effectively a hybrid between a scare maze and a ghost hunt.
One thing is certain though, some of the rooms are so creepy that you really wouldn’t want to walk around them on your own. How some of the actors stand there in the dark waiting for the next group of guess to come through we will never know!
