Thorpe Park - Overnight Blair Witch Experience
At ScareTOUR we pride ourselves on giving honest unbiased reviews of every attraction we visit, so after our night at the the first ever overnight Blair Witch Project experience, we gave Thorpe Park the chance to respond to the claims in our review:
"We thank ScareTOUR for providing this feedback, which as always goes into improving the future experience we provide for our campers. We take on board some of the criticism from the initial nights operation, and are pleased to confirm that following some changes, the experience was improved for the following evening. A full management team are now on standby to initially brief, and then remove anyone who is seen to be causing problems within a group. The story line has been modified, and additional elements added to keep campers 'on edge' until the early hours of the morning. As with any new venture it can take time to settle, and I personally apologise to the individuals who did not enjoy the experience on Friday evening. Rest assured myself and the Entertainments team have worked hard to resolve all of the issues mentioned, and anyone taking part in the Blair Witch Camping experience will not be disappointed. The official ScareTOUR review of the first night:
With Thorpe Park’s complete re-brand for 2013 Fright Nights, the opportunity to attend the after hours Blair Witch Experience was a must.
The experience itself included an overnight stay in the Crash Pad hotel and upon checking in, the mystery of the evening ahead commenced. Reception staff advised that they were not able to tell us anything, but that a note would be in our room with further instructions. Rushing to our room, we found the note which detailed where we were to meet at 11pm sharp.
As the park emptied, we hung back and made our way to the meeting point where a small group of anxious people had already gathered. Shortly after, two members of staff joined us and issued us with camping supplies in a rucksack and led the group into the park. We were apprehensive as it was explained that we were due due to investigate strange occurrences that have been witnessed throughout the Blair Witch attraction on park. We were then taken on a lengthy walk crossing derelict buildings and woodland, all adding to the atmosphere of what the evening would entail.
We arrived at the site of the Blair Witch Halloween attraction and walked though it, with the members of staff talking though some of the experiences and sightings that have occurred since the attraction has been created. The group were then asked to put up two tents to add to ones already there and this is where the event came to a halt and confusion set in! Unfortunately the event was taken over by a very rowdy and drunk group who monopolised the evening and this just wasn't managed by the staff appropriately. This really highlights the importance with events making a judgement on whether particular people / groups, when so under the influence, should be allowed to participate when the risks of ruining the event for other paying guests are potentially so high.
We then (on our own accord) sat in a tent with two other people who we instantly believed to be actors. At this point we realised that over a quarter of the group were also actors used to portray normal members of the group. This was apparent due to their overacting, making their behaviour seem too unusual. Before long all normal members of the group had also realised this and any credibility was lost as a result. The rest of the evening then involved a lot of getting in and out of tents, not being sure what was happening and then finally after a very strange ending we were led on the same journey we came on, back to the hotel.
All in all, the entire event itself was one of mass confusion with no proper leadership or control. Saying that, the two main characters stayed in their roles throughout, despite some very difficult situations. The event started with such high expectations and has incredible potential to be a Halloween highlight. We understand that some improvements have now been made and hope that the Blair Witch Experience is one that justifies the cost involved!

Visit - 18/10 Very disappointed! For the money it cost and the fact that I am a Fright Night fanatic I could of cried at how rubbish this was. Poor acting, no scares and nearly 2 hours laying in a tent with nothing happening - very poor ending I couldn't wait to get back to crash pad! Thorpe park redeemed themselves after my complaint with free fright night tickets for next year and refund of Blair witch experience money. Serious work needed on it which is disappointing as in my eyes they get the mazes and theming spot on every year. My 8 year old daughter would of lasted the experience on her own without even whimpering.
