Mansion
The mansion is the latest immersive experience from Electric Goldfish. Unlike a standard scare attraction this new show was a full actor led experience which pulled us totally into the story.
The show is set in a fantastic building that looks completely run down which fits in with the whole story, supposedly a rave has just finished and we were the first to enter.
After meeting a suspicious security guard, the show led us through 8 different scenes which all tied in with the sinister nature of the immortal building itself.
We don’t want to give too much away but the actors and performances were top notch throughout and we enjoyed the uniqueness of the experience, especially the scene at the banquet table.
It was great to see Electric Goldfish bring the attention to detail and immersivenes that we have come to expect from their audio adventures to life and must commend then on creating something quite so unique and different

Keep the Candle Burning
Keep the Candle Burning is a new collection of interactive ghost stories from Electric Goldfish, that have been designed for people to enjoy during lockdown, while Halloween attractions are closed.
The stories are presented in very clear binaural sound, which at times reminded us of the aural tricks we have come to expect from Darkfield. Sudden noises and voices would appear in different ears, but unlike Darkfield which tries to recreate a live experience in the darkness of your room, these stories are intended to be listened to like a theatrical play or show.
The stories themselves are suitably spooky but are more believable if you join in with the actions. Connecting the stories, our host asks us to partake in particular activities that tie in with the narrative, and these make the effects and experiences feel more real. Especially when moving around the house to the rooms mentioned in the show, and using some of the props listed in the instructions.
Although not intended to be jump scary, we had a few moments where some of the sudden sound effects caught us off guard and we genuinely enjoyed the whole show as a more creepy and psychological experience. The final story with its strong hypnotic nature is very unnerving and we definitely recommend you listen to this in a safe environment. People susceptible to hypnosis could be triggered by the experience, and we would suggest that caution is taken if you have candles lit to listen to the show.
The production value across the whole experience is very impressive and the sound quality in each story makes for a totally immersive and creepy experience. It wont be to everyone's taste, as it is definitely more subtle than scary, but we enjoyed the experience, and we look forward to seeing what the team come up with next.

Nightlight Circus
Over the past couple of months, we have seen many attractions creating online immersive experiences to help beat the lockdown blues. One of the most unique concepts was Electric Goldfish’s Facebook centric detective experience ‘The Pandora Network’. We were thoroughly impressed with their first investigation ‘Bury the Hatchet’ which incorporated paranormal plot elements to great effect. Once we caught wind of a new case, involving the disappearance of four children and the arrival of a mysterious circus, we put our thinking caps back on and dove head first into the investigation.
For those unfamiliar with ‘The Pandora Network’, you might be wondering how an online detective experience plays out… In essence it’s relatively simple. The day before your experience is due to start, you are invited by the lead characters to join a private Facebook group, where the investigation will take place over the course of a week. New evidence will be posted daily, with the participants granted the opportunity to draw conclusions, open new lines of investigation and even the ability to determine who gets interrogated next.
With this new case ‘The Nightlight Circus’, Eclectic Goldfish have expanded upon the level of interactivity within the experience. There are now more opportunities for the audience to get involved, with everyone getting their moment to shine by uncovering some nugget of truth that would lead towards the case being solved. There were multiple times during the week where we personally received contact from the lead characters via messenger, with new clues and voice memos which really got us into the role of being private detectives. Our interactions with these characters weren’t just limited to messenger. During the week, we were stunned to find that the experience now had a major focus on video clues and live streams. This was something we hadn’t seen before in our previous investigation, and we were delighted that the experience had taken this route.
It was very easy to get immersed into the world of the Nightlight Circus, when we were deciphering hidden messages left within videos and helping direct characters actions during live streams. It must be said, the worldbuilding of this particular experience was unparalleled.
As horror fans, we immediately appreciated the sinister tones coming from the narrative as soon as the investigation started. Both cases of ‘The Pandora Network’ have delved into paranormal aspects, but we felt that this particular investigation really unnerved and interested us in equal measures. Pondermere is certainly becoming the UK equivalent of Twin Peaks with all the mysteries going on. Considering the direction Electric Goldfish are taking both the characters and the town itself, it will be genuinely interesting to see what twists and turns the next case brings.
We hate to say it, but misfortune really can’t come soon enough to the town of Pondermere, as we are dying to jump back into another investigation. Both ‘Bury the Hatchet’ and ‘The Nightlight Circus’ have hooked us with strong narratives and ominous themes sure to satisfy any horror fan. Whilst there is a lot of information to take in throughout the week, it’s easy to catch up and there is always something to contribute towards. Even the most time-light people will be given the opportunity to help the investigation and have their own eureka moment. If you’re looking for more stay at home fun, with a supernatural twist, we recommend keeping an eye out on ‘The Pandora Network’ for their next big investigation into the mysteries of Pondermere.

Bury the Hatchet by The Pandora Network
Editor's Note - Tim was invited to a pre-launch test run of this new online experience before it launches to the public in May
With most of the world stuck indoors, many attractions have adapted their experiences towards an online audience. Faceless Ventures, Incognito Experiences and Nick Hutson Music have done just this with their latest immersive murder mystery, The Pandora Network, and we decided to lend our skills to a group of agents attempting to crack a disturbing case in the sleepy village of Pondemere.
After being added to a closed Facebook group, we were briefed on the case and set about solving the mystery almost immediately. This experience uses online interactions with characters to guide the investigation. While some might question how easy it is to engage with an entirely online experience, we felt engrossed in the narrative. Pondemere is steeped in mystery, deception and the supernatural, all of which provide great narrative hooks to explore.
The format of the entire investigation is easy to get to grips with, yet surprisingly deep. Each day the characters of the experience presented our group with a series of clues. These ranged from audio files, to photos, drawing and detailed written reports. Using these, we were encouraged to draw our own conclusions and discuss our findings with the group.
The investigation allowed us to get as involved as we wanted and doesn’t require hours of the day to get the most out of it. Most days we spent between 20 minutes to an hour searching through the clues, but of course the more you put into it - the more you will feel you have progressed the story. This specific plot was very intricate, with a rich lore supporting the mystery, delving into unusual themes.
Over the course of the week, our group of participants managed to uncover some promising leads. It took a fair amount of brainpower to get there, but nothing overly difficult. The challenge of this investigation was set at the right level, causing a sense of reward when we finally made a breakthrough. As the story got more intricate, things started tying together with each of us getting our own time to shine with either some individual interactions with the agents, or through revealing a theory to the group that ended up being correct.
By the end of the experience, we had formulated a case that seemed logical. Upon reporting back to the lead detectives, the truth was uncovered, and the case had been cracked. After the investigation ended, we were sent a high-quality audio debriefing that came in the form of something you’d expect from a radio play. It was celebration of all our hard work, highlighting each of our individual contributions to the case and summarising the findings. It rounded the experience off on a high note.
The Pandora Network is a unique experience for the UK. This online murder mystery revolves around an intriguing plot. It isn’t too demanding and you can pop in and out of it whenever and however often you wish. It’s easy to catch up and you are constantly immersed in the investigation through some fun character interactions.Well done to the team for creating something so immersive.
