Biohazard Review 2024
The tag line for Biohazard by Horror Box really sums up the event perfectly. Shoot, Escape Survive! As that is exactly what you need to do in this unique hybrid event that is a zombie survival shooter event mixed with a number of of unique escape room elements.
What is so unique and fun about this game is that it isn’t just the zombies that you need to worry about, as the whole thing is also a competition between different teams. So, tasked with finding as many rations as possible, teams are always on the look out for the roaming undead or incoming fire from another team.
The whole experience covers a large area and for those who know Horrorland, will recognize the different sets of Hell Cell, Mcabro and Urban Z. Fortunately located in one building the three mazes are all interconnected and create a massive playing area. This does mean that some times you really need to search for the puzzle points and a couple of them are located in hidden away locations that actually allow you to solve the puzzle without worrying about an ambush from an other team or a zombie attack.
The puzzles themselves are NOT easy – and we were severely hampered by being just a team of 2. There were a couple that actually needed an extra pair of hands, and we were grateful for some of the army marines to step in when we just physically couldn’t meet the requirements. Of course, a larger group can also leave a couple of people on guard to protect those solving the puzzles from other players or zombies.
If of course someone is shot too many times or had the zombies to get to close to them then, they have to report to the medical bay where (after a small make over) are invited back into the game in a new role. This element of the game means that everyone who has bought a ticket – gets a full 90-minute worth of game play and it cranked up the tension for the players who were still alive, when the number of Zombies started to increase!
Obviously coming from the team at Horror Box – everything about this event was professional and totally immersive with the incredible actors putting their all into their roles. From the barnstorming opening (through to final announcement of the winners, the experience was completely believable and had us on edge for the duration of the game.
All in – we had a fantastic time at Biohazard and would highly recommend it if you are in Barcelona at all. As with the other Horror box games – this game is playable in English and all the cast were able to switch language when required.
