Adrenalin Shots Live - Mistress Morphines Macabre Art Class
With a lot of scare attractions not open, and trick or treating effectively banned, we looked around for something different to do on Halloween night this year. So when an invite to Mistress Morphines Macabre Art Class by Adrenalin Shots Live came in, we signed up on the spot, not really knowing what we had let ourselves in for.
And now having experienced the show - we still don't really actually know what any of it was about. Hosted by the sexy vampire Mistress, this all Zoom performance ranged from musical pastiches, comedy sections, various horror guest stars and quite bizarrely - a genuine art class!
The screenshots below will sum up the madness of the show, with the fantastic Elvira and Zach Galligan from the Gremlins movies as just a couple of the guests involved, as well as several stop motion vignettes. No one scene or cameo would outstay its welcome, which kept the whole thing fresh and dynamic. Well that was until we got to the Zoom breakout rooms for the art class itself. Spending 15 minutes being shown how to draw a picture of Mistress Morphine seemed to be too long away from the chaos of the main show. You can also see the terrible drawing that we created during our class!
We have to applaud the team at Adrenalin Shots for trying to do something so different and unique, but this all felt a bit too wacky and contrived for this reviewer. Maybe we should have started drinking at the start and gone along with the flow, and then maybe we would have enjoyed it on a more cerebral level. As it was - the drawing sections slowed down the pace of the main show, and we would have loved to have seen more of the inventive craziness of the linking scenes. It was like the show didn't really know if it wanted to be a genuine art class or a camp horror comedy pastiche. We genuinely had fun, but hope that by the time they do another show like this, they will have decided which direction they want the experience to go, instead of the mixed bag that was presented.
