Unsolved by Plot Twist Events - Review
Most of our readers will know by now - we are particularly good at hunting down new scare experiences - especially when they are buried in a massive schedule of entertainment that goes into a standard Fringe Festival type event. After all - we discovered Generation of Z at the Edinburgh Fringe and had our first Darkfield experience at the now defunct Vault Festival in London. Therefore when the Brighton Fringe Festival line up was announced, we took a closer look amongst the comedy acts and cabaret shows and saw a horror themed immersive escape experience by Plot Twist Events. Without a further thought - our train tickets were booked and we headed down to explore.
Located in an upstairs studio at The Actors pub and theatre, we were met by our host and led into a simply decorated room with a table in the centre and a few pieces of furniture scattered around. After hearing the back story and the basic rules, we were left to explore.
What then followed was a unique escape room experience that presented us with a huge array of different and unusual puzzles, a fair few locks and padlocks, and just enough jumps and scares to have us swearing out loud in the darkness. Although not wanting to spoil any of the surprises, you can see from the picture below that at one point we were sat holding hands in the dark whilst trying to cast out the evil spirit. Fortunately for us - we did and got the record for being the fastest group of the opening weekend!
For a first experience for the newly formed Plot Twist Events, we were really surprised at how intricate the effects and story-telling were, and when we met the team afterwards we realised that they have been actors at several other events we have visited in the past, securing their experience to create something unique and ultimately scary. The fact that the building is supposedly really haunted didn't help the atmosphere at the time!
Since completing its run at the Brighton Fringe, the team have confirm that The Unknown will return this October as well as teasing a brand new escape experience for the Halloween season. Off the back of this debut - we cant wait to see what they come up with next!
