Scream Time - Elvaston Castle - Review 2025
Following the success of the event at Margam Castle last year, Scream Time have created a new event at Elvaston Castle in Derby.
We started with the woodland walk, where we encountered an array of different characters, noises, and screams. The walk was pretty amazing and gave us a genuine jump scare. The scenes were really good, and the lighting and sounds added to the great atmosphere.
We them moved on to the castle maze. Again, the scenes were incredible the first section was based on vampires to which the theming was stunning along with some amazing costumes, and the castle was dressed amazingly. We took everything in and really appreciated the scenes.
We then joined a rather long queue, but with a fantastic, funny roaming pumpkin skeleton, it broke up the time well. The next maze was a little disappointing and not really much point to it; to pass you through the next area, it was over in a few seconds. We then entered the courtyard, to which you could find food, drink, and fairground rides.
After a quick stop, we went to our final maze. A short queue, and we were in. Unfortunately, again, there wasn’t much to this maze. With two actors, we were out in less than a minute.
The potential for this attraction is amazing, and what they have done in the castle and the walk through was of really high standards; just the other two areas need some attention. We look forward to seeing how this attraction develops over the years.
Additionally, there was an issue with the postcode they were giving, as this sends you to the back of the event. It was clearly a problem as we had gone to the wrong entrance along with a long queue of others. And they had had to staff this with an attendant to show us how to get to the correct entrance!
