Hyams Haunted House - Halloween 2025 Review
Hyams Haunted House is a small home based scare experience that aims to raise money for a local food bank. We visited during the summer and only saw part of the experience, so it was great to be invited back for the whole Halloween show
As we said in May – this attraction has tricks and effects that we would expect from a much larger corporate event, and we have to commend the team for creating such an entertaining experience.
The actors throughout were very impressive, and we had so many scares that it was hard to believe we were in someone's back garden!
The addition of the inflatable maze section at the finale of the experience, works really well and the “nun” actors throughout were genuinely terrifying
We went through Hyams Haunted house several times and we enjoyed every run through. Although short and clearly home made – there is so much here to enjoy that we would definitely recommend it, if you are in the area.

Hyams Haunted House - Summer 2025 Review
In the past, a number of the larger UK Scare Events have opened for Walpurgisnacht, a night that literally celebrates being Halfway to Halloween, but in recent years, this tradition seems to have dwindled.
So therefore we were surprised when Hyam's Haunted House (an event that had previously slipped under our radar) was opening for two nights in April. With free entrance (dependent on a donation the local food bank) we grabbed a supermarket bag of goods, and headed down to Southampton on a warm sunny night.
The attraction itself is based in the back garden of an average family home, with a maze built in a shed like structure at the bottom of the garden. Obviously, during Halloween - this would look a lot more dramatic with some atmospheric lighting, and as such, a couple of Halloween outdoor elements have been excluded for this summer show. But who cares what it looks like outside - when it is whats's inside that really matters.
Starting with a bespoke pre-show, the attraction is a tight and claustrophobic tour through multiple different themed rooms, all brought to life by a talented and lively bunch of actors. The scares come thick and fast throughout and the attraction utilises several effects that wouldn't look out of place in a larger more professional scare event.
We were so surprised with the content and theming within the attraction, that we immediately went back in! Which was even scarier, as the actor in the pres-show decided to separate us and send us through he maze on our own! We are sure our screams probably rang around the neighbourhood!
All in - we cant thank Hyam's Haunted House for their hospitality and their dedication to the local food bank. We hope the summer opening was successful for them. They certainly deserved a lot of success and we look forward to visiting the full house at Halloween.
